ShareBack in the 1920's before she became a vampire, she was an aspiring actress.
Gaga stripped naked for a scene with two old Hollywood movie stars – Rudy Valentino [Finn Wittrock] and his wife Natasha.

Getting close: The flashback showed The Countess getting close to a big Hollywood actor in her youth

Baring all: In the show Gaga showed off her pert derriere as her character before she became a vampire

Threesome: She got up close and personal with a woman called Natasha and her husband Rudy Valentino
Wittrock's character appeared to be a nod to Rudolph Valentino - the Italian star of the 1926 flick The Son Of The Sheik.
The episode began with workmen discovering a secret corridor in the creepy Hotel Cortez.
Under the advice of Will Drake [Cheyenne Jackson] they bust it open.

Naked: She wasn't afraid to ditch her clothing

Love: The Countess revealed she was in love with the pair

Returned: And it seems the feeling was reciprocated
'It smells like death,' they complained as they were attacked by two gruesome creatures in a vile bloodbath.
The monsters turned out to be starved vampires Rudy and Natasha who The Countess claimed were her 'only true loves' from her youth.
The grim couple had been incarcerated for 90 years by her jealous husband, Hotel Cortez owner/serial killer James Patrick March [Evan Peters].

Bloody mess: However it seems it didn't end well for Natasha who was found incarcerated in the modern day, grey and wrinkled even after tasting blood
Detective John Lowe [Wes Bentley] meanwhile was undergoing psychiatric evaluation in a nearby facility in Los Angeles.
'I feel like everything is closing in on me, setbacks at work, separation from my wife…my daughter is afraid of me,' he told the shrink.
'I attacked the only friend I had,' he said regretfully.

On the case: Detective John Lowe underwent a psychiatric evaluation after being suspended
In the hospital Lowe knocked out a security guard to gain access to room 153.
When he entered the room he found a sinister young girl with pigtails.
'I am Wren,' she told him, as a flashback revealed her brutally slashing the neck of a security guard.

Creepy kid: The detective found Wren in a room and she gave details of the 10 Commandment Murderer's spree
'They were going to catch him,' she said, claiming that she had been protecting the evil killer.
'It is my fault…everything that happened,' she said.
Flashback to 1986 in Los Angeles with Wren left alone in a hot car until The Countess came to her aid by smashing the window.

Broke the glass: The Countess rescued the girl by smashing the window
Claiming to 'like' the detective Wren promised to take him to the killer – if he helped her escape the hospital.
'Will you kill him?' she asked as they walked away.
'If I have to,' he answered.

Not happy: Wren tried to explain that she was sick of her situation before running in front of a moving bus
'I really like you, I'd hate to see it end,' she said cryptically before launching herself into the path of an oncoming truck for the episode's cliffhanger.
Back at the hotel The Countess had examined the creepy corridor with Iris [Kathy Bates].
'I've never seen you scared before,' Iris told her as they peered into the cavern.

Keen observation: Iris remarked that she had never seen The Countess scared before
Flashback to Hollywood 1925 when The Countess was just a small-time actress trying to get a break.
She received a note from the leading man in a movie, Rodolfo Valentino [played by Finn Wittrock who also plays Tristan on the show].
The young Countess was enamored with the actor and she eagerly headed to his home come nightfall.

Recalling her youth: The Countess recalled her love affair with the pair
'I often dine alone…fame is it's own type of prison,' Valentino told her, as they sat down to dinner.
'I do better without words,' he decided, as he pulled her up for a sultry dance.
His wife Natasha walked in on them, instigating a kinky three-way Argentine Tango, which led to a threesome.

Smooth operator: Valentino danced with The Countess

Joining in: Natasha soon joined Valentino and The Countess in a dance
The Countess later learned that Valentino had died.
Devastated, she attempted to commit suicide but was caught from behind by the sinister March.
As she protested for release he said: 'I may never let you go'.

On the ledge: James Patrick March pulled The Countess back before she could jump
As the young Countess visited Valentino's tomb in mourning attire she was approached by Valentino and his wife.
'You let me think the worst,' she sobbed.
After learning the details of his faked death she revealed that she had married March for his money and alluring 'dark side'.

Lady in black: The Countess was shown in a flashback learning about how Valentino faked his death

Rough and tumble: March and The Countess choked each other in bed
Flashbacks explained how she discovered March slaughtering 'a hobo' in the hotel and how she deemed it a 'waste of time'.
'Select a victim with money or jewels, then your little hobby can benefit us both,' she said.
'And next time I want to watch,' she whispered.

Serial killer: The Countess walked in on March after he murdered a 'hobo'

LIkes to watch: After her scolding The Countess asked March to let her watch next time he kills someone
Valentino and his wife divulged that they had become vampires and they asked The Countess to join them 'in eternity'.
'Yes!' she breathed without hesitation.
At dinner with March one night The Countess mysteriously announced that she planned to remarry with the debonair Drake.

Dinner date: March was told over dinner by The Countess that she planned to marry Drake
'Might I suggest when you murder him that you do it off the property?' said March bitterly.
'It'd be damned awkward to keep running into him for all eternity,' he grumbled.
'I never claimed to love you,' she told him wryly.

No love: The Countess reminded March that she never claimed to love him
March then confessed to imprisoning her movie star lovers within the secret chambers of his hotel.
As those chambers were opened they returned as starved monsters who hungrily feasted on the blood of construction workers and then hotel guests.
'This thirst, it is insatiable,' said Valentino.

Insatiable thirst: Valentino and Natasha attacked hotel guests after being freed
After feeding on three young males the pair regained their youthful countenances.
As Iris watched from behind her desk they strolled out of the hotel.
