The sight of an unconcealed package led to Laurel police being called to a local post office on Saturday morning.
Robert Jackson, 43, of Ellisville was sitting “on the floor naked, Indian-style, ” inside the Choctaw Post Office on Leontyne Price Boulevard just after 6 a.m., according to the incident report.
When officers who had just started their shift arrived to arrest him, he reportedly struggled with them briefly — but without any briefs — before being taken into custody. Jackson was booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Center on charges of indecent exposure and resisting arrest.
It was a less-than-desirable start to the shift for officers, LPD Chief Tommy Cox said. “You don’t want to have to put hands on a naked fellow.”
Jackson was arrested by the LPD earlier this month after reportedly causing a disturbance at the hospital. He was booked into the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and failure to comply.
It was believed that he was under the influence of some sort of substance when he was arrested Saturday, sources said.
